Best Practices in Managing Privacy Protection with Organizational Interests

Recent cases widely reported in the Canadian press are causing people to question whether organisations care about their privacy rights. At the same time, Canadian privacy laws leave gaps in protection for personal information that similarly fail to engender public trust for organisations that wish to collect and use their information. Brenda McPhail will explore updated laws, such as Bill C-27 and Ontario’s potential private sector act, which demonstrated how adherence to best practices are needed to support public confidence.
